Bronchitis – when the mucous membranes in the bronchial tubes are inflamed

Acute bronchitis is generally defined as a sudden and serious inflammation of the mucous membranes in the bronchial tubes. The bronchial tubes are an extension of the trachea (windpipe). They guide the air into both lungs. In the lungs the bronchial tubes branch again and again and end in the alveoli. Bronchitis is among the most common diseases affecting the airways and occurs most often in the winter months.

How does bronchitis develop?

Acute bronchitis is caused by viruses in 90 percent of cases. Only in rare cases does a secondary bacterial infection follow the viral infection. Risk factors such as air pollution, tobacco smoke, cold and damp can exacerbate the disease. Acute bronchitis usually manifests as a severe cough that develops during a common cold. It is generally over within two weeks. Children and adolescents are more often affected than adults.

When the disease lingers

In some cases bronchitis can persist, e.g. if there is a pre-existing chronic disease. Older people or smokers are also at risk of the disease lingering. Chronic bronchitis is commonly defined as the disease persisting for more than three consecutive months over two consecutive years. In this case it is essential that you consult a specialist.

Taking care of the airway

We at PARI have been focused for decades on all diseases that affect the airways. We would like to help you with our tried and tested inhalation devices: We aim to effectively treat your acute or chronic bronchitis.

Taking care of your airways when you have bronchitis

We have innovative products for patients who need special therapeutic support in their day-to-day lives. People with chronic bronchitis need regular inhalations. In combination with salt solutions these, for example, ensure that the thick mucus in the airways is loosened and can be more easily coughed up. Medications can more easily enter the bronchial system this way. Slow inhalation can also be supported if necessary.

As experts in specialist inhalation devices, we have devices that are suitable for treating acute and chronic bronchitis. We strive to provide targeted support for people with respiratory disease with our special offers and products. We at PARI do our level best every day to accomplish this mission.
